having gone through a HR career in a not-for profit context, starting the studios was the culmination of a lot of time spent sitting in an office wishing i was making art.

after studying photography at night for 2 years i came to realise the vast amount of training opportunities available to photographers in australia, leading to very limited opportunity to gain real and relevant experience and work. hence the reason for starting moth.

study for a masters of arts managment has taken up a lot of my time in 2010, as has the mardi gras photo team project, a mentored program for emerging photographers which resulted in exposure in media outlets in 10 countries and contracts with lonely planet for some of the participants.

it has been pleasing to see so many students, amateurs and professionals through the studio, something i find i have needed to keep inspired in my personal photography.
